Today, I'm declaring my independence from the computer all day long! I'm going to celebrate the fact that I don't have little kids shooting off Black Cats and bottle rockets in the driveway, causing the dog to run around in nervous circles, barking all day. ("Snakes! Why can't you kids just be happy shooting off snakes?!") Yes, it's an empty-nester's Fourth of July. Planning a bit of gardening, a little cooking, and spending the evening on a friend's boat watching the fireworks show at the lake.
And I even managed to sleep late!

The kids have all but vanished from my neighborhood and its eerily quie this year. I miss the noise.
