Oh, the cruel irony of it all. Dave Freeman, co-author of "100 Things to Do Before You Die," passed away this week from injuries sustained in a fall at his home. He was just 47.
Freeman's co-author, Neil Teplica, says Dave managed to squeeze in half of the adventures listed in their 1999 bestseller that started everybody talking and making their own "bucket lists." The 100 "must" experiences included running with the bulls in Spain (not on my personal bucket list), bungee jumping (maybe), Carnival in Brazil (oh, yeah) and Australia's Nude Night Surfing Contest (why not?).
Here's another sad reminder for all of us to go for the gusto while we still can. I've been trying to do that since my dad died last March, but it's easy to fall back into old non-adventurous patterns. Dave Freeman practiced what he preached. Hopefully, his death with inspire others to seize the day.
