This is my garage. Normally, my car would be parked in there. Instead, we now have a flatbed trailer, piled high with the contents of my daughter's former rental house. She's boomeranged back. And there's precious little room at the inn for her paraphernalia.
Two beds, a futon, several rugs, a table, three chairs, coffee table, TV, a kitchen's worth of minor appliances, pillows, linens.... where is it all going to go? Solving that problem is our mission today, and probably tomorrow and into next week. Meanwhile, my car sits on the driveway, baking in 100-degree sunshine. I know people have worse problems but this a discomfitting situation, made worse by a projected heat index of 110 today.
Oh, and did I mention there's a family of racoons living in the garage, throwing a wrench into the works? But, that's another post. Stay tuned....

I was motivated to clean upstairs yesterday, in advance of company. As I was washing the windows in our bedroom, I lifted the window just a little to take out the window fan so I could close the window and wash the top half. But the fan squirted out of my hand and out the window (my husband has the screens off to paint). Fortunately it unplugged itself on the way down, because otherwise it would have swung into the new double-pane picture window in my dining room. As it was, it just mooshed a flower bed of daisies and red hot pokers.
My husband came in later and asked if I knew what had trampled through the south flower bed. (Me, to get to the window fan, but I didn't tell him that.) The game was up, though, when he turned on the window fan just before bed and fresh potpourri came flying out. Next time I'll try rose petals; the chopped-up daisies didn't go over too well.

Hilarious, Suzy - and I'm glad the end result wasn't tragic. You have prompted me, however, to take a cold, hard look at my windows. Not pretty. Think I'll wait 'til it cools down to tackle those.

Your garage resembles the shed at our summer cabin, packed with stuff our "kids" (30 and 34) just can't bear to give away. Since they both live in NYC apts., my poor cabin and shed are both packed with furniture, books and toys-surely that Star Wars stuff will be valuable someday???

Lee, never EVER give away the Star Wars stuff! My 26-year-old son is still upset that I "let him" sell his He-Man figures at a garage sale years ago.
