New product prevents wardrobe malfunctions

Privacy Strips may not have saved Janet Jackson from Super Bowl mortification, but they could save you from embarrassment in the office.

Invented by Jennifer Sloane of Winter Park, Fla., Privacy Strips are billed as "the affordable solution to every woman's wardrobe dilemmas." The most common problem, of course, is the dreaded "shirt gap" - when the area in-between the buttons on a button-down shirt pucker open for the whole world to see.

Privacy Strips were invented to help prevent embarrassing — and all-too-common — gapping at the bust line.

Many of us have had this problem since we graduated from training bras. You find a blouse that fits perfectly through the shoulders and waist but pulls ever-so-slightly at the bust, creating an unsightly gap and unwanted exposure for your unmentionables. What do you do? You either put the blouse back on the rack or buy it and have to pin it together with a safety pin every time you want to wear it out.

As an attorney, Ms. Sloane went through the same ritual every morning as she put on her power suits. Finally, she got sick of it and vowed to find a better solution.

What she came up with are disposable, pre-cut strips of a specially formulated double-sided tape that works on many different types of fabrics. Privacy Strips are effective in stopping the aforementioned gap as well as hiding bra straps under sleeveless shirts and holding wrap-around skirts closed.

I gave the strips a test run the other day on a particularly stubborn blouse and they worked for me. At $2.99 for a package of ten strips (probably a month's supply), I will be ordering more.

Now, if someone could get word to Janet Jackson. This product might help revive her career.
