Power of the pen holds key to romance

To the letter

Turn on the romance with an old-fashioned love letter. The November issue of Best Life tells how.

• Make the letter handwritten and don’t use a ballpoint pen. For a personal touch, write it on the program of the latest show you saw together.

• Keep the note simple and explain why you love your mate and why you’re attracted to her.

• Send the letter by mail — sealed with a wax stamp — or tuck it someplace for her to find, such as her purse, her dashboard or under her plate.

Toy shopping

The aisles of your neighborhood shops may hold the secrets to a better sex life. The November issue of Women’s Health offers some ideas to make your time in the bedroom more exciting.

• Check out the sexuality/erotica section of your bookstore for some guides to share with your mate.

• Go lingerie shopping during your next date — and then wear what you buy for the rest of the night.

• Visit the spice section of your grocery store and find some tasty seasonings to sprinkle on each other.

• Head to your local home improvement store and buy a full-length mirror to put on the wall next to your bed.

Fun fact

Courtesy of Women’s Health: If you’re trying to get a solid night of shut-eye, you may want to try sleeping alone. University of Vienna researchers studied eight couples and found that after sleeping together for 10 days, the couples woke up more and performed worse on cognitive tests than they did after sleeping alone for 10 days. A big problem: a partner who steals the covers or is a restless sleeper.
