With furrowed brow, we examine the plucking power of the latest high-tech tweezers

It seems as if we spend an awful (and we do mean awful!) amount of time plucking away at our brows, getting rid of the little hairs that make us feel less than polished. With tweezers being such a beauty essential, why is it so difficult to find a pair that neatly, gently and effectively helps us with this grooming ritual? We had one person try two (we thought it was only fair that the person trying Hello Kitty’s also try a grown-up one) and another gal try the fancy-handled one. Was the result cleaned-up brows?

High brow/low brow: “Between monthly waxings, I need a sharp, slanted, comfortable-to-use pair to get at those pesky strays that spring up on my lids and brow bone. Most of them are so tiny you can’t really see, but my brow-obsessed self knows they’re there.”

Hair bare: “I have a love-hate relationship with the Tweezerman. I love that he’s sharp enough to grab the wispiest of my brow hairs. I hate that I could spend hours with him in front of my bathroom mirror forcing my tired hand into a gnarled, carpal tunnel-inducing knot. Help!”

Pluck luck? “These tweezers not only look sculptural, but the ergonomic design kept my fingers loosey-goosey. They’ll definitely replace my old pair for the comfort and cool factor -- although my old Tweezerman will still have a place in my heart!”

High brow/low brow: “The $20 Tweezerman I currently use is slanted and pulls everything -- little hairs and my skin. The pointed edge is just a little too sharp for me.”

Hair bare: “My little brow hairs slipped right through this high-performance-looking tool.”

Pluck luck? “Miss. Miss. Miss. This tweezer struck out.”

High brow/low brow: “I had no-name brand tweezers that I loved for years. But unfortunately, they were lost in the bathroom basket chaos.”

Hair bare: “Zeroing in on individual brow hairs was hard with the wide flat edge of this pair of tweezers, but the little plastic circles on its sides provided the perfect place to position your fingers.”

Pluck luck? “The pick-up power of this kiddie tweezer surprised me. And it was gentle enough for, well, a child to use. If only it came in a slanted version!”
